Handmade tile by FLM Ceramics stands out in the kitchen

Merit Award: Rustic Modern

A custom floating staircase connects the dining room to the second level

• Objectives: The original objective of this home was to create a more functional design for entertaining and add sleeping space for additional guests. The team was also tasked with making the space feel larger within the existing footprint.

• Special and Unique Features: The aesthetic is rustic modern done in true High Camp Home form. It features many interesting nooks that have been used to carve out space for custom built-in features such as bunk beds and daybeds. The backyard is an entertainer’s paradise complete with an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, spa and other features.

• Why it Won an Award: This home was transformed from a dark, bland 1990s home with no character into a true mountain retreat. It is a small home for the area that required a lot of creative planning to achieve a warm, inviting mountain home that takes advantage of every square foot of available space.

The family room features warm neutral colors and lots of texture, as well as a rolling barn door that leads to a bunk room
